Most people know me from Videpro and video production. Less known is that technology, software and innovation have run as a common thread through my work for far longer.
My strength isn't wanting to do everything myself. I get to the bottom of the problem, work out how a solution could function, and then bring the right techniques and specialists together — until something emerges that isn't just technically interesting, but above all practically useful.
Many projects started with the remark: that probably can't be done. That's exactly when it gets interesting to explore what is possible after all.
From 300 web shops to smart print-shop software.
In the early days of the internet I was already building large web shops. One of the biggest projects: a single central platform connecting some 300 office-supply retailers, each with their own products, prices and terms. Several parties called it unfeasible. By looking closely at the data structure and the business processes, it simply worked in the end.
Later I conceived Printweb, a custom system that grew into one of the most forward-thinking solutions in the Dutch graphics industry — not because it had to be technically complex, but because it fit exactly what the business needed. After that I connected the separate systems of print shops, so manual re-typing disappeared and errors dropped.
Good automation doesn't start with new software, but with understanding where time is being lost.
Radar, cameras and the railway from the air.
For a large construction firm we developed SideRadar: security that uses radar to watch a site up to 200 metres out and, the moment someone is detected, automatically swings a steerable camera to follow them — with lighting and audio alerts alongside. We presented it at IFSEC in England, where it drew a lot of international interest.
For ProRail we captured entire railway sections from a helicopter using purpose-built equipment. Those recordings were processed into a point cloud: a 3D model in which the track can be viewed and measured to within centimetres — useful for inspections, maintenance and planning. What began as a camera under a helicopter became a whole route made digitally accessible.
Innovation doesn't always mean reinventing everything. Sometimes something new emerges by letting existing techniques work together more cleverly.
AI changes what is possible.
Where a first version used to require a team of programmers straight away, I now build a large part of a proof of concept or MVP myself. The distance between an idea and a working solution has shrunk — no months of meetings, just start with a version that shows whether the idea works.
The real power isn't in a single question to a chatbot, but in AI that becomes part of how an organisation works day to day: bringing information from different systems together, understanding documents, taking over repetitive work. A small team suddenly gains a superpower. And it often starts smaller, faster and more affordably than people expect.

We don't start with the technology, but with the problem.
Web shops, print-shop software, radar, helicopters, 3D models and AI may look like separate worlds. Yet they all begin the same way: with a practical question. Where is time being lost needlessly? Which systems still work in isolation? Which knowledge is hard to reach?
Only then do we look at which techniques are needed — sometimes a simple integration, sometimes custom software, often a smart combination of software, AI and hardware. Technology is never the goal in itself; a solution has to save time, reduce errors, or make something possible that couldn't be done before.
We don't start with what we can build, but with what needs to be solved.

Of course we can build a website, an application or a software solution. But our added value really shows when a question goes just a little further: systems that need to be connected more cleverly, a process AI can speed up, or hardware that belongs with it.
